Hi Everyone....
It's me again. I'm learning as we roll across country. Brandon, our grandson, is bringing us (June) into the 21st century. He set up the blog with our car traveling across the US. Boy, what these kids know these days is amazing. Hope you like this new way of sending our trip updates, and hope everyone is able to view them. If not, please let us know.
Last night played 5 Crowns with Edward and our grandsons. Naturally the oldest one won. Had a great time and didn't get to bed until late.
Left you off in Mobile and the wonderful time we had there. It was a shame because in Biloxi they were all ready seeing some tar balls on the beach. When Katrina went through it wrecked a lot of trees so this man came through with a chain saw and made some beautiful carvings out of them. It really was incredible to drive down by the ocean and see all of this beautiful work. Can honestly say something good happened from a disaster.
Took the coastal route to Jacksonville and it was beautiful. Stayed in a small town called Appalatchicola. Some name, huh. It was this quaint little place and we had a nice quiet and relaxing evening. From there, headed to Jacksonville to once again visit our friends Carol and Joe. What a great time we had eating and drinking and playing Phase 10. They really knew some great places to eat and also took us to the oldest city in the US, St. Augustine. What a historical city it is. Once again it was hot and humid and we weren't able to take in all it had to offer, so would really love to go back when cooler weather is in the forecast. Hated to leave, as we really had a wonderful time, but will meet up with them in Reno for the Goof (Golf) tournment. After that it's home baby HOME......
Must close once again as we are headed out, so will continue with our time in Savannah, which was marvelous, but HOT HOT HOT. Take care and stay happy and healthy. Love to All....
June and Ken
